The Toy American Eskimo or “Eskies” dog is usually a companion dog. They may be an enchanting and affectionate little dog having an intelligent expression.

There’s 2 other American Eskimo dogs – standard and miniature. The one main distinction them is their weight and size.

Eskies have a snowy white double coat which could have biscuit or cream markings. The two outer coat and undercoat are thick and soft. There’s a very distinctive ruff, compact body; wedge shaped fairly small head with erect triangular shipped ears. Their eyes are oval shaped, brown leafy with dark brown or black rims. Their tail is plumed and curled over their back.

The Toy American Eskimo is powerful, swift and agile using a flowing gait. These dogs can also be very loveable and high-spirited.

The American Eskimo is loving, playful, prepared please, alert, loyal, strong willed but straightforward to train by using a quick wit and obedient.

These dogs are a wonderful selection for loved ones. They go along well with children if given sufficient exposure and interaction early. Also they are good along with other pets. Eskies are viewed as a fantastic breed initially owner if throughout a good breeder.

These are cautious about strangers until they become familiar with them then they are instant friends. They create excellent watchdogs – they will bark to announce an unknown person.

Eskies should be socialized and therefore are very trainable but need kindness and consistency. They seem to consider longer to mature than other breeds. They will behave like a puppy until two years of aging.

They desire exercise so they will not put on weight. Toy Eskimo’s only need some laps savings around your house and out although the rest demand more and so they love long walks.

These are a fairly healthy breed however they are liable to :

hip dysplasia

That they like cold weather better than warm.

Brush these dog daily when shedding, otherwise two times a week will work. They
are a typical shedder. Only bath every 2-3 months as a consequence of dermititis problems. This is a very clean breed and grooms themselves.

The American Eskimo belongs to the Spitz group of dogs. The German Spitz was taken to the U.S. plus the American Eskimo is made. This breed was identified by the AKC in 1995.
